Wooden Hangers VS. Wire Hangers

All hangers are not created equal.  Professional closet organizers and designers recommend wooden hangers over stainless steel metal hangers.  There are actually many reasons why.  If you are finishing out an organized closet, or if you're looking to make your closet more beautiful, then read this before you purchase your hangers and closet accessories.  It can make a big difference in the look of your closet and the longevity of your wardrobe. First, let's take a look at the cons of using wire hangers.  We all have a lot of these.  We collect more every time we pick something up from the cleaners.  Wire hangers get crossed over each other and get tangled on the bar.  They bend under the weight of clothing.  The twisted neck can snag and tear clothing.  The metal scrapes across your hanging bar, making a horrible noise.  It damages your bar and leaves it rough so that hangers don't slide over it anymore.

You end up with cramped, wrinkled, damaged clothes and a closet rod that makes it a battle when you have to push clothing around. Wooden hangers are much easier to work with.  The body is naturally thicker than the neck, so the hangers stay separated on the bar.  They don't get crossed up or tangled.  Wood is much sturdier than wholesale best aluminum coat hangers, so clothing doesn't cause them to bend or break.  If you select ones with chrome swivel hooks, they should not scratch and tear up your hanging rod.  Try to find ones that are "industrial strength" or "commercial grade" so that you don't end up with snotty construction. Wood hangers protect your clothing.  With the right lacquer, they won't splinter.  They slide easily into a wide array of garments.  The curved shoulder design is great for avoiding the dreaded shoulder pucker that you get with standard hangers.  The body itself can be curved to fit perfectly with suits, dresses, and coats that need to retain their shape.

When you're shopping for wooden hangers, there are a few things to look for.  First, is size.  You can buy them in children's sizes, petite sizes, woman's sizes, or men's sizes.  You can even find extra large sizes for plus sized clothing.  Next, look at type.  These hangers are designed with very specific uses in mind.  They can be used for suits, dresses, pants, skirts, or delicate lingerie.  You can even buy luxurious cedar hangers.  If your hangers have clips, look for ones that do not have sharp edges.  Another thing to look for is "non-staining" pads on the clips. Your metal coat hangers can make a huge difference in the look, feel, and function of your closet.  Make sure that you do your research and figure out which ones will be best for you.

It's the little things that let me take pride in my home. Replacing my plastic white coat hangers (you know the ones) made the entire closet feel classier. Very good quality and beautiful appearance.
